U.K. Muslim dentist sent women away in pain for refusing to wear Islamic garb

If you own a business, I suppose it’s your prerogative whether you choose to serve a customer or not, although people have been sued for discrimination for that choice. But when you’re a dentist in the U.K., funded by the government’s National Health Service (NHS), then you give up that right to be picky.
It appears 32-year-old Muslim dentist, Omer Butt, is once again in trouble for refusing to treat female patients who refused to wear a scarf or hijab. Not surprisingly, Butt’s brother was spokesman for the now-defunct Islamic extremist group al-Muhajiroun
With one reprimand from the General Dental Council (GDC) already under his belt, when he told an Asian mother, several years ago, he would not treat her if she did not wear a hijab, he continues to flout NHS guidelines, by insisting Muslim women wear Islamic garb whether they want to or not. Imposing those strict requirements and refusing treatment as a result of non-compliance, is against NHS policies. According to John Snell of the GDC:
‘Patients should have access to NHS treatment regardless of their religious observance, or otherwise.’
Apparently, he has offered to provide hijab for female patients, because he wants to save them from committing a religious sin. My suggestion, is that if he wants to save Muslim souls, then he needs to set up a private practice, treat only observant, religious Muslims and leave everyone else alone.

Revoking the license is not the solution. We need to trash the word religion from the dictionaries and minds of people. Religion and God have only created chaos. Atheism is the only solution.

Although I have a problem with organized religion, exactly for the above reason and for the inherent divisiveness, ith all due respect, I don’t think atheism is the answer. Perhaps you have the moral fortitude to know right from wrong, but many don’t and need some spiritual doctrine to guide their lives. Just my 2 cents.

Man’s Gods needed to be male so that man would always be seen as the dominant force in the world.
Humans have an instinctive feeling to protect our gens thus giving us the ability to be so called good or evil
and will follow these feelings wheather by a religion or not and have done so before religion arose

Females represent half our species but have no gods of their own ,just the male gods that they have been bullied and brainwashed to believe and follow like good servants of male testosterone
The funny thing is that women have been so conditioned over years of evolution and blindly believe the male story and will support the story to their death

People do more from custom than from reason.most people that are born in one religion or another stay there until they die, and brainwashed to believe that their right or they must be the chosen ones,i find,people have a peculiar pleasure in making converts, that is to say, in causing others to enjoy what they enjoy, thus finding their own likeness represented and reflected back to them and is one of the arrogance of religion. and the more in there group than the more right them must be ,studies of cultures over the world as long as we studied man has found no more favor from any of their gods from one peoples to another , in other words the same good and bad will happen if you live long enough and if your culture is around on it’s own without being mixed long enough , i don,t care what triggered you to think like people that claim to be of any belief or religion, we will because of being soft tissue and being venerable to almost everything have some kind fear or feeling for a higher intelligence , all may be right and all might be wrong

How about supermarket employees refusing to check out alcohol (and pork products) at the registers or stock the shelves and refrigerator displays with these products? Even islamic authorities are divided in their opinion on this. Mind you, we’re not talking about processing these products, just stocking shelves or checking out packaged products.
What I’d like to see is what would the reaction be if the reverse happened– if a supermatket employee refused to check out halal meat for a Muslim customer, for instance, or a department store employee refused to sell a book on Islam to a customer because it offends him, or a woman hairdresser refusing to wear a headscarf as a condition for working in a Muslim-owned salon.
The examples of this type of pressure for one-sided consideration are legion and shouldn’t be allowed. Shouldn’t people consider these things before they accept jobs or look for employment in professions or fields that might require them to ”compromise their principles”? Multiculturalism shouldn’t come at the expense of the rights of others.

They us a lot of mind games on weak thinkers to make it look like they are not biased but just giving some observations on articles on Muslim or Jewish happenings in the world

sadly your ”logic” keeps you in your mind and you are unable to see the bigger picture. all those things michael has listed have occurred, i have posted on many on them. what is happening in the UK, and elsewhere, is going to prove very problematic in the future. take pakistan, you give a leg (swat) to a few extremists and they want the whole body. as long as you keep your head firmly planted in the sand, you are going to be in for a very rude awakening in the next 10 years or so.

I wonder why people complicate issues and impose their beliefs on others, as much as we want to have an organised religiuos world we should first be organsined from within and do what we are required to do regardless of the beliefs that might end up sabotaging the very goal we are targeting. Right from the word go denying someone a right to treatment just because she has not dressed to satisfy your sight is very wrong and against any positive intention.
