Plagiarism On Instablogs

For those who might not know.....if you are going to use the words of another individual, make sure you put those words in quotes and credit that individual. Using someone elses commentary and passing it off as your own is plagiarizing and you could get into trouble for that. Besides it’s just not right.

If you cross post from your own personal, non-instablogs blog, make note of it, but be aware you won’t get credit for it here.

I am going to assume that those who have been posting other people’s blog posts as their own are unware of the protocol (you know who you are). A word to the wise, and the not so wise.

We all have opinions, make sure they’re your own.

Hi Sarah, I’m not sure anyone here monitors that.. although I did have someone copyscape one of my pieces here once.. that I had posted over at my blog on blogger. It was my work, but we don’t get paid if it’s crossposted to another blog, so I make sure I post different content on each.

However, I copyscaped a blogger here and it turns out he plagiarized a huge portion of someone elses blog, without giving credit where credit is due. I contacted the real author and it’s up to them to contact the IB citizen journalist. At least he knows. I don’t mind people using my work, as long as they credit and link to me.

Crossposting one’s own original work is essential. That allows you to make it available to newer readers. However,I am of the opinion that due credit should be given to the original author in case we come to use his/her work for own sake.

Interestingly, when I used a photo present on other side and mentioned this fact while pasting it on IB,I found that someone edited that information regarding it’s existence on that site.

Hi Arvind, well one particular individual on Instablogs posted something that was not his own.  He knows who he is. As for photo credit, Instablogs (from what I was told) has agreements with AP etc. They pay a fee and in turn we are able to use their photos. I have also had photos posted for me, like this one, which is great because I had nothing to post. Cheers.  Confessions Of A Closet Republican www.republicaninthearts.blogspot.com
