Obama 'Aint No JFK!People keep making the comparison that Barack Hussein Obama is the John F Kennedy of the 21st Century! Hallelujah, he’ll save the day. Sure, they’re both Democrats, but on 2 major issues they couldn’t be more diametrically opposed. If you look at the following JFK quotes, without knowing the source, you would automatically assume they were from some Republican politician. They’re not. These are quotes from various speeches over the years prior to Kennedy’s assassination, and they sound nothing like what’s coming from Obama’s mouth.Obama 'Aint No JFK!

On National Defense

“In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility - I welcome it.”

“Israel was not created in order to disappear - Israel will endure and flourish. It is the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom.”

“It is an unfortunate fact that we can secure peace only by preparing for war.”

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. ”

“The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission.”

“The tax on capital gains directly affects investment decisions, the mobility and flow of risk capital... the ease or difficulty experienced by new ventures in obtaining capital, and thereby the strength and potential for growth in the economy.”

“The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty, and all forms of human life.”

“There is always inequality in life. Some men are killed in a war and some men are wounded and some men never leave the country. Life is unfair.”

“War will exist until that distant day when the conscientious objector enjoys the same reputation and prestige that the warrior does today. “

On Taxation And The Economy

“It is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high and tax revenues are too low and the soundest way to raise the revenues in the long run is to cut the rates now ... Cutting taxes now is not to incur a budget deficit, but to achieve the more prosperous, expanding economy which can bring a budget surplus.”

Lower rates of taxation will stimulate economic activity and so raise the levels of personal and corporate income as to yield within a few years an increased – not a reduced – flow of revenues to the federal government.”

“Our present tax system ... exerts too heavy a drag on growth ... It reduces the financial incentives for personal effort, investment, and risk-taking ... The present tax load ... distorts economic judgments and channels an undue amount of energy into efforts to avoid tax liabilities.”

“This administration pledged itself last summer to an across-the-board, top-to-bottom cut in personal and corporate income taxes ... Next year’s tax bill should reduce personal as well as corporate income taxes, for those in the lower brackets, who are certain to spend their additional take-home pay, and for those in the middle and upper brackets, who can thereby be encouraged to undertake additional efforts and enabled to invest more capital ... I am confident that the enactment of the right bill next year will in due course increase our gross national product by several times the amount of taxes actually cut.”

“A bill will be presented to the Congress for action next year. It will include an across-the-board, top-to-bottom cut in both corporate and personal income taxes. It will include long-needed tax reform that logic and equity demand ... The billions of dollars this bill will place in the hands of the consumer and our businessmen will have both immediate and permanent benefits to our economy. Every dollar released from taxation that is spent or invested will help create a new job and a new salary. And these new jobs and new salaries can create other jobs and other salaries and more customers and more growth for an expanding American economy.”

Obama the next JFK? Uh, I don’t think so! And if JFK were alive today, you can bet your sweet bippy he’d be a Republican, and proud of it.

Hey, this is a new century. For crying ut loud, Kennedy was speaking for a world that no longer exist.

That old idea of cutting taxes, cutting spending, increasing the deficit, auctioning off government as inefficient, hoping that the benefits of uncontroled free market will tickle down to the poor had been tried by Republican presidents beginning with Reagan and found wanting.

So come back to the 21st century. It is not our father’s world.

By the way, Obama will be Obama and not anyone else.

Sorry, Rudolf, Reagonomics worked. And will always work. As for a world that no longer exists... we are headed back that way, unfortunately.

Its ironic how national defense for America always means American national offense against the freedom of other nations... If this is what Obama is preaching, be sure that Americans will no longer be welcomed in the majority of the world soon!!

Asmita, thanks for your comment. I find it interesting that we are damned if we do and damned if we don’t. We’re criticized for not intervening in certain situations and intervening in others.
