No, I don’t mean Jihadists have decided to join the civilized world and become decent, socialized human beings; no, it turns out they are now turning to social media groups, like Facebook, to organize and spread their hatred and Jihadi aspirations.
The facebook page of Fursan Ghazawat Alnusra (”Knights in Support of the Invasion”) was recently shut down after Fox News (with the help of a former radical Islamist turned cyber-terror exposer) contacted the company about the group’s activities. In a very short time (a little over a week) their ranks had grown to 120, and members were being told to wage “Jihad to aid the religion of Allah and his Prophet.”
The aim of Fursan Ghazawat Alnusra was “to invade this Web site” and petition “Allah to grant us Jihad and martyrdom.” “Today we invade your sites, tomorrow your lands and homes, o you cross worshippers.”
This is the latest method of spreading radical Islamic propaganda to impressionable young Muslims, and others, and there was a detailed plan on how to use Facebook to accomplish that. Although their “Invasion of Facebook” plan failed this time, there is little that can be done to monitor these kinds of groups, and so one that is shut down today can regroup and easily set up again tomorrow, which is apparently what already has happened. It’s a little like cancer that metastasizes and spreads, you cut out some cancer cells and the cancer spreads elsewhere.
Too bad these people don’t take all that energy and do something to help humanity, rather than destroy it.
