It amazes me that there are still those who condone the actions of Hamas, mostly through lack of criticism. They are quick to criticize and vilify Israel, but say absolutely nothing about all the misdeeds of Hamas. When will they realize that Hamas cares only about maintaining power, and NOTHING about the Palestinian people.

The latest from Hamas? Armed police goons raided a warehouse belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and made off with more than 400 packages of food and 3,500 blankets destined for 500 needy Gazan families. UNRWA spokesman Christopher Gunness, said “They were armed, they seized this, they took it by force,” Gunness said, terming the incident “absolutely unacceptable.”

Apparently, the goods were taken by force after UNRWA refused to turn it over to Ministry of Social Affairs. Although untrue, Hamas claims the U.N. aid was being distributed to political foes, and yet, by politicizing this, much needed aid is not getting to those who need it most. They should not care who is delivering the aid, as long as it gets to the Palestinian people. They are, like true terrorists, holding the food hostage to politics.

And like all bad liars, they can’t seem to get the reasons why they stole the aid straight. Ahmad Kurd, head of Hamas’ Ministry of Social Affairs says “UNRWA did not do what it said it would do, and began distributing its aid to groups that tie their activities to political activism.” An indignant Taher Nunu, demanding an apology, told reporters UNRWA officials were “spreading false news.”. And Ihab Ghussein, of the Interior Ministry, said it happened because the UNRWA was “storing the blankets in an area not authorized to be distributed.”

So which is it? And if people are in such dire need of help, who gives a damn about where blankets are stored, or who delivers the aid??!! It’s more than obvious that this is a political ploy to keep themselves in good favor with the Gazans, since they garnered so much support in the past by being the distributors of aid to the Palestinian people. It’s a form of bribery. I give you food, you vote for me.

Gunness want the supplies back saying “Does anyone really think that the Americans, who are our single largest donor, or the Europeans, who are our largest multination donor, would give us aid in the generous way they do if they thought that aid would go to terrorists?” And he’s absolutely right!

This is not the first time aid has been stolen. On January 12, 2009 100 trucks, full of aid bound for Gazans, were raided by Hamas and the supplies were sold to the highest bidders.

So while the Palestinian people suffer Hamas plays a despicable game of politics with their aid.
