Dhimmi Carter and The Terrorist Meet In Syria

art_carter_ap_16105 Jimmy Carter has no clue when to quit. He seems hellbent on adding credit after asinine credit to his already overflowing resume’ of idiocies. You would think that, after all his major gaffes and missteps over the years, he would sit back and enjoy his retirement, try to keep his mouth shut, and put more effort into worthy projects like his Habitat For Humanity. But, nope, with every subsequent blunder, Carter continues to ensure he goes down in history as the world’s worst President. Although some might disagree, history will eventually prove that he wins that title hands down.

So what’s his latest screw-up?

Against the State Department’s recommendation , James Earle Carter, Jr. is apparently headed to Syria to meet with none other than Khaled Meshaal, the exiled leader of Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement). What on earth he thinks he can accomplish chatting with the leader of a designated terrorist organization, is beyond me. Peace? You can’t negotiate peace with a group whose charter contains the following statements:

“Israel will rise and will remain erect until Islam eliminates it as it had eliminated its predecessors.”

Article Seven: ....Hamas has been looking forward to implement Allah’s promise whatever time it might take. The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! This will not apply to the Gharqad, which is a Jewish tree (cited by Bukhari and Muslim).

Article Eleven: The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf . ... This is the status [of the land] in Islamic Shari’a, and it is similar to all lands conquered by Islam by force, and made thereby Waqf lands upon their conquest, for all generations of Muslims until the Day of Resurrection.

Article Twelve:
Hamas regards Nationalism (Wataniyya) as part and parcel of the religious faith. Nothing is loftier or deeper in Nationalism than waging Jihad against the enemy and confronting him when he sets foot on the land of the Muslims. And this becomes an individual duty binding on every Muslim man and woman.

Article Thirteen: [Peace] initiatives, the so-called peaceful solutions, and the international conferences to resolve the Palestinian problem, are all contrary to the beliefs of the Islamic Resistance Movement. For renouncing any part of Palestine means renouncing part of the religion; the nationalism of the Islamic Resistance Movement is part of its faith, the movement educates its members to adhere to its principles and to raise the banner of Allah over their homeland as they fight their Jihad.

There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. The initiatives, proposals and international Conferences are but a waste of time, and exercise in futility.

What I find most objectionable is that, as a former president, Carter is entitled to Secret Service protection, which means he and his wife will be accompanied, on this upcoming trip, by at least 5 agents. And at whose expense? The U.S. taxpayer! If he chooses to ignore the administration’s exhortation not to meet with Meshaal, then he should be liable for the cost. We should not have to suffer for his stupidity and lack of insight.

Stay home Mr. Carter, and save us (and yourself) more embarrassment!

Jimmy Carter is ready to meet the senior Hamas leader Khalid Meshaal in Syria. Is he doing it for popularity? Going to discuss peace with Hamas when Hamas is in fact the impediment to peace? It will be a clear violation of United states' foreign policy.

Hamas is a declared terrorist organization, which has repeatedly rejected several options to join mainstream politics with international standards in the middle east region. Hamas leaders controls Gaza strip, they should drop their weapons, renounce violent means, recognize Israel by accepting agreements signed between Israel and the Palestinians. They would gain nothing with the use of violence.

I believe White House is taking him wrong as he is not going to middle east on any political mission. He has said that the his visit is a study mission. He has no plan to negotiate with Hamas but to boost the momentum for current efforts to establish peace in the region. To author - 'In the dictionary of Social service, the word 'Retirement' doesn't exist.'

No need to worry at all because Jimmy Carter is a old friend of Israel, He can't even think to go against Israel. Hamas leaders know it well. Let them meet and just watch what comes out. Rice is overreacting over carter's trip to Syria.

Carter is on his personal diplomacy and the personal diplomacy with enemies generally results in positive outcome. Earlier, Carter had planned to visit with some high-profile 'elder statesmen, like Kofi Annan and Nelson Mandela but they showed 'no interest' in carter's personal diplomacy.

I would rate Jimmy Carter as better statesman than the US president George Bush because he is not talking with keeping arms in one hand. Negotiation should be like negotiation and there should be no place of dominance of one party over other. The Bush government should legitimize his visit and and take his meeting with Hamas leader seriously? isn't this process more efficient and less costly than the inhumane strategies and policies of Bush government.

Declaring Hamas as terrorist organisation is wrong, Derrick's comment is biased towards Israel. Hamas is a legitimate political party in the region and the party is battling against an illegal occupation. Hamas leaders are elected by their people. For us, they are the sons of liberty.

Ali, Jimmy Carter is in no way a friend of Israel, and he has proved that time and again... read his book.

As for Hamas being a legitimate organization, if you read their charter (and I have, the whole vile thing) they believe that jihad is the only way to freedom. They will never accept Israel, which has every right to exist, so peace is a joke, as far as they are concerned.

People have special reasons for doing things. Friendships may be built even if you have different backgrounds. What people need to understand is that respect exists in this world. If Carter will go to Syria, let him do that. He is a private citizen now so he has the right to decide what actions he will take.

Thank you for your comment, Maynard. I agree with your first comment. I was raised all over the world and I have friends of many colours, races and religions. In fact, I was born in Manila.

But, as for Carter, yes indeed he is a private citizen, but as a former president he still represents the U.S. and needs to follow certain decorum that befits an ex-president. And my tax dollars are paying for his security. I take issue with that. If he is going against State Department recommendations, he needs to pay for his own protection.
